PAINT YOUR COUNTY PARKS III

Its that time of the year, Paint your county parks is back. I finished my piece just in time as usual on October 31st, it was painted on the 29th but took a while to dry. This year as every year I was pressed for time do to circumstances beyond my control. So I wasn't able to paint as many as I would of liked too. Personally my favorite was the one I did for Paint Your County Parks I. Paint You County Parks I & II can be found at  http://badmoarts.blogspot.com/2014/11/paint-your-county-parks-ii.html. I always wish I had more time and more supplies but don't we all. So here is what I
painted this year.

Here is the original photograph

Been having computer issues, however I did manage to
get this before my computer melted down and refused
to run my graphic software.

Above is the digital painting or edited photo
it turned out pretty good if you ask me. I love it
anyway.

Below is the painting of the digital art. I didn't have the
time I had hoped for so it was a one shot deal. I wasn't even sure
this one would get dry in time. It is what it is, hope to paint it again
soon.

Paint Your County Parks III event reception is Thursday, November 12th from 6:00-8:00pm at

Foundry Art Centre
520 North Main Center
St. Charles, Missouri 63301
Phone: 636.255.0270, Ext. 112

Hope to see you there.

Its Been A Long Day

Its be one of them months, one of them year where nothing seems to go right. I haven't done a lot, in fact, nothing at all.  I have good times when art flows from my mind and times when I just wish it would. The stresses of life pull you in directions you may not wish to travel. While my spirit is strong my will is weak.

Tomorrow is a  new day, a new smile. For all of the downs of life its the small things that
make me smile. Tomorrow I will be stronger even if I am weak today. Tomorrow hold new
a new beginning in which to smile.

What Happens Happens

What Don't Don't

What Will Will

What Won't Won't

                                             Mo

I will wake up and smile I can only hope you do the same.

All Is Not Lost

My Body is Broken
My Mind is Failing
My Soul is Crushed
My Heart is Breaking

I am Sinking
I am Shaken
I am Lost
I Will Not Give Up
I Will Stand Strong

Without the Will
I don't know for how Long

You will Be Missed

Oct 10 2015

Trace is a great man. He has a huge heart. We must think of the good times, and cherish the memories. You know we all had a lot of laughs a lot of good times with Trace.
No one saw this coming. I don't think he planned this. I believe he just lost his way.

We must think of this like a sickness, an illness. We can not blame ourselves though most of us probably will. I know even though I shouldn't, a part of me will. There will always be that part of me that says if I did this or I did that maybe this wouldn't have happened. But the truth is, Trace had an internal struggle which we knew nothing of, and he lost the fight.

If Trace was here, I'm fairly sure he is, he would tell everyone of us he's sorry. And I know that he would not want us to blame ourselves in any way.  I am sure that if he could, he would take it back, and do things differently. But in the middle of a crisis like that, the mind does not think straight.

I know that he would want Mary, Josh and Mathew to know, that he loves them deeply and that love will never fade and that he is very proud of his boys.
He would tell his friends, Thanks for the support of him and his family. He would tell you that we will meet again. Till then he will be watching over us.

May Showers May Bring Us June Flowers

Been kinda lazy, having some technical computer issues. My hard drive is packed full of art. Its time to move from this laptop to a desktop. But I don't want to I love my little laptop; how we become so attached to some objects I will never know. I could replace the hard drive in the laptop but really that would only be a temporary fix. And sure, I could get an external hard drive but I don't have many usb ports. So it's really time I move my art stuff to a desktop. Then I will have hard drive space to create more artwork.

It seems art is all about space and money, I can never find enough space or money  to create the things I want to. I have some great new ideas after going out yesterday and looking at a few local art galleries. I met some great people, saw some very nice art and had a great time. I really should get out more often. I went to three Art Galleries on McPherson Ave. in St. Louis, Missouri.

Philip Slein Gallery

St. Louis, MO 63108

Duane Reed Gallery

www.duanereedgallery.com
Hours: T-F 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and by
appointment

Houska Gallery
4728 McPherson Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63108
Phone: (314) 496-1377
http://www.houska.com/

If you're in St. Louis check them out they all have some very beautiful artwork in their galleries. There are a ton of restaurants nearby. I didn't get the chance to stop and have any cuisine as I had already had lunch and was stuffed. There is a nice variety of restaurants within a few blocks.

I have been working on some digital imagery for last week or so with the last little bit of my hard drive space. About killed my poor laptop in the process. She just cant take no more scotty.

Give me a camera, a computer, and some software and I will make your eyes bleed. :-)
Joking of course.
Maybe not you didn't get to
see the rejects.

Its Another Day

I was in the city a while back and took some photos with my very junky phone :p
Least I was able to get some pictures. I have just got around to playing with them.

I took this image "its been edited a bit" and started off the day playing.

Used a few filters. And got the images below.

Messing around a bit more I want to do some
digital experimenting.

Image below is layer one of what I came up with.
You should enlarge them to see the image properly.

As you may have guessed below is layer one and two

Layer one two and three below

Layer one two three and four below

Layer one two three four and five below

Layer one two three four five and six below

All layers one to seven below

The image above is what I came up with experimenting
with color and filters. While it may not be a great piece of
art it was fun, at the end of the day isn't that what arts all about.

I need some work on my video editing skills.
However I did manage to make this video.

Merry Christmas 2014 Prints 03 Dec 23st

 Its only March almost April

Well its not July yet. These are the last of the December Christmas prints. I know it took me a while. I'm getting old moving a bit slow these days. I have spent  the last few days editing these images. It took a bit longer then I hoped it would, but then again most things do.

There are quite a few images in this post and yes all where made on the 23rd of December 2014. Since they are prints its all about prep work, the printing goes relatively fast. Its the weeks of prep that takes so long. You must have paint that's ready to use, it must be the right thickness, not to thin not too thick. Sometimes you need some of the same color at different thicknesses. Also need many different colors and shades. I always try to use two or more shades of every color. Also Need several  substrates to print on or off of depending upon what my plan is. In this case I needed many different substrates to print onto. They all have to be ready because acrylic paint dries very fast. I would like to try oil paints sometime. I have also thought about trying to add a slowing agent to the acrylic I however have not done so as of yet.

I like to experiment so as you can see from the other December 2014 posts I tried bubble wrap to print onto then print onto another substrate. I found it very interesting and visually appealing.

We will start with bubble wrap. These next few images are on bubble wrap.
The black background comes from scanning the bubble wrap with
a piece of black mat board on top of it.
Some of the images are the same just different
sides or different backgrounds.

These are scanned with a black background

The same images as above are below only
with a white background.
You can see they look much different.
Even though they are the same print
only scanned with different backgrounds.

You may also notice not everything turns out. You win some
and you lose some. Sometimes the images can be in used
for digital art. So I keep everything.

The images below are glass and bubble wrap.
While I only made one glass and bubble wrap
piece. There are four images front, back,
white and black backgrounds. So its the same
piece of art scanned 4 different times.

Below is a glass piece that was printed off
a bubble wrap plate. The above image the bubble wrap
and glass are fused by the acrylic  paint.
Again its just one piece scanned two times.
Scanned once with a black background and
once with a white background.

That's all the glass piece I have for now.
However I do have some transparencies.
You guessed it, transparencies are below.
The transparencies below are made using a
 transparent film and scanned
with a black background.

I like  transparencies as they are cheaper
to make and easier to store. However they don't display,
are fragile and shiny. They
seem to be best for digital prints.
They can be displayed just a pain
to mount them. And can be a bit reflective.
These here are also quite small at 11 by 8.5 inch.

Lets move on to paper. Below are various paper
pieces print onto different types and colors of paper.

Again not everything turns out but I like most of
them, the last two are kind of rough.
Although I may be able to use them to
make some digital art later.

Below are on hardboard. The hardboard is coated
in a gesso primer goop I like to
call chunky monkey.
That give the texture and helps
seal the hardboard. Sometimes
the hardboard warps so I don't like to
use it, but sometimes different substrates
are needed. At least its very cheap.
Its Just not to fun to deal with.

Now we are on the last substrate, good
old fashion stretched canvas images
are below.

So what's your favorite substrate?

I hope that you enjoy my art
as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Feel free to comment or make suggestions.
