Merry Christmas 2014 Prints 02 Dec 10th

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. The last of the prints from
December 10th 2014 are here. I'm hoping to get another set or two done by morning but getting
tired. The prep work for all these prints is doing me in. Only got a week to go, well about five days
now. So I will post these prints and get back to work.

Below are on stretched canvas. You may need enlarge the image to get rid of texture banding.

Merry Christmas 2014 Prints 01 Dec 10th

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

It's a busy, busy, busy time of the year. Rushing and dashing about.  Anyone want to wrap my presents?  Places to go, people to see, presents to make, presents to wrap. Later today I have to paint another set, make some shirts, a few posters and wrap presents as tomorrow, for me, Christmas begins. It seems my schedule is full, and as usual, I'm not ready!

This is the second post of three from the prints and painting of December 10th. I have no idea of the order in which they where pulled. They are all monotype/monoprints.

I make them by placing acrylic paint on a sheet of glass then printing off the glass.

As always I hope you enjoy them. Comments always welcome.

Miscellaneous Art, Christmas 2014, December 10th

Thanks to the super awesome A G Handmades  for doing my last blog. It was a great post; I really liked it. While I was off making more art, she was kind enough to write a post on my blog.  I hope everyone got a chance to read it if not check it out here:
 http://badmoarts.blogspot.com/2014/12/playing-around-with-art.html

Well, I guess, on with this post. While she was busy writing the blog I was making a mess
and a bit of art. I made quite a bit of a mess and a lot of art so I will put it in three posts.

We shall start with the miscellaneous.
I hope you enjoy the mess I have made.
Let me know what you think.

We shall start with the trash art. Made from cleaning up.
Not sure what it is or what to call it but I like it.

This one looks like buildings to me but who knows
what does it look like to you?

Not sure why I saved this one but I did. It was made trying
too get the last bit of paint off the plate.
Its not very good; not sure if I like it.

This one I was using a texture to cover up
pieces that didn't come out. For some reason
I liked it. And it seems that at least one
other did too as it's already gone.

The below images are black and whites. I'm still having
bubble issues with the paint. Some are better then others
and probably not my best work. Sometimes you
get what you get.

Note: you may have to enlarge them so that you don't
see the pattern of the canvas

More black and whites below, however
they are photographs and not great ones.

I'm not the writer that AG Handmades is; I do my best
and hopefully she will take the time to spice up this post.

I will leave you with a images of some of my
pieces drying.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my art.

Playing Around With Art

Good evening peoples!  AG Handmades here.  The boss is away working his fingers to the bone in his studio, getting a lot of stuff ready for Christmas, so it falls to me to post up this entry today!

A few weeks back, Mo took himself off down to St Louis, camera in hand (Canon sx170is) and took some photos of the famous Arch from a building in the centre of town.  As is his way, he then set to on his computer with some digital imaging software and had a good play around with them.  For reference, the programs he used were:  Adobe Streamline, Painter 4 Essentials,  Micrografx Picture Publisher, and Corel Draw.

It never ceases to amaze me how he can take one simple picture, and turn it into so many different artworks with his skill, not just with paints but also with software.  I wouldn't know where to start, but then that is why he paints and I crochet!

I am not sure what he did with this one, but from far away, it looks like St Louis in a snowstorm!  Zoom in and it looks like a technical drawing of the same thing, with the buildings and the arch made of precisely measured squares and circles.  Unrecognizable from close up, but definitely recognizable from far enough away.

These next four: hmm, I am not sure about these.  The "green" based one to me looks slightly washed out.  The second one is cool, but to me, there is too much empty space.  Same with the third one.

I really like the fourth one, with its strong colors and solid blocks for backgrounds.  Now that would look great on a big plain wall.

Again, art is often all in the eye of the beholder, so what do you guys think?

This next one reminds me of an oil painting.  When you see it close up, the texture is very different from all the rest, and very interesting, almost as if the buildings are "melting" in the heat! I like it.

These next two are my favourites:

There is something almost psychadelic about them, space age, even.  The sky reminds me of an Aurora Borealis and the colours on the buildings give the impression of metal reflecting that Aurora.  Very nice indeed.  I could certainly hang those on my walls.

This next one is like one of those photobooth pictures that you take on holiday pulling funny faces, but this is Mo playing around with colours and I love the results.  You take one picture, apply different colour schemes to it, and this is what happens.  Funky, huh?  And they really do give the impression of them all being taken on different days, some colder or hotter than others, like four different seasons.

These last two are superb in my opinion.  Just as the one above that looks like the buildings have metal facades reflecting the light, the color in these two is rich, strong, and deep.  They draw your eye in to study them more closely.  The first one is cleaner, and crisp; the last one seems to have movement, and more warmth.  Both are just as striking.

So there you go... one picture, so many different results from playing around with imaging software.

Take a good look at all these pictures.  Zoom in and out to get a feel of the textures, colors, and depth in them all.  You've read my take on them, how about yours?  I am sure Mo would love to hear your comments, and so would I.

On Mo's behalf,

AG Handmades :)

PAINT YOUR COUNTY PARKS II

My! How time flies.  Has it been a year already?

I entered into "Paint Your County Parks I" at the Foundry Art Centre last year but due to an email issue on my part I didn't know I had got in to the show, so I didn't get to show my work. I know some of the art from "Paint Your County Parks I" is on this blog so I thought I would revisit it.

Paint Your County Parks I

I started with a photograph I took in Bangert Island Park
then digitally edited to the picture below.

I then edited the image above to reduce detail and modify the colors.

I made some small pieces on 8" x 10" that didn't turn out and I no longer have them.  However, after trying the small 8" x 10"s I changed to 16" x 20".

Sorry if some are bit blurry, it was hard to get good images inside.

All of the images below are Monotype Prints.
The original painting was demolished in the process of
making the prints.

Here are the 16" x 20"s

I decided to move to a bigger size and reduce the
colors, starting with the image below.

I then painted the above image, and below is the 24" x 36" painting
"Paint Your County Parks I"

Unfortunately, I didn't get to turn it in.

Below are the prints from the painting above.

Above is on paper 24" x 36" framed to 30" x 40".

Above is on weaved canvas 24" x 36".

PAINT YOUR COUNTY PARKS II

Enough about last year.  I tried again this year, was running short on time, but I got it done.
Always could use more time. Anyway, on with the art.

Again I started with a photograph I took in Bangert Island Park and I edited it digitally. I always try to do more then one as you never know what you will get. This was my alternate image.

Below is the paint I made of the image above.
Photo taken with flash.

The photo below is taken without flash. It's the same painting
but looks so different.

Below is the backside of the painting above taken without flash.

Yes, it's two sided - it's done on a clear sheet of acrylic using acrylic paint.
It is 23 x 27 inches unframed.

Below are the prints from the painting above.

The print above is on clear film 16" x 20".

The print above is on photo paper 16" x 20".

Above and below are prints on canvas 16" x 20".

So, on to the main piece, well, the one I expected to be the painting I would turn in.

Below is the digital image I started with.

Below is the painting of the above image.

Its a rather large acrylic painting that was all laid in with syringes on unprimed canvas.
It measures 50" x 34".

Below are the prints from the painting above.

This was the first pull on unprimed canvas. It wasn't very easy as I had no help
and it's 50 x 34 inches.

Below is the second print on unstretched unprimed canvas.

After all the work was done I decided to go with the alternate piece.
Below is a picture of the piece I enter at the show.

I didn't win but there is always next year and it should look great hanging in my bathroom window.

I hope everyone enjoys my work.
